A Brilliant Children's Mental Health Week 25

We have all had a great time this week, with an extra special focus on our mental health and wellbeing as part of Children’s Mental Health Week. Every day at Newfield is a happy one and we make sure that wellbeing of children, families and staff is front and centre of all that we do. Here are some of the things we have enjoyed doing this week.

C1 did some balloon modelling and they all made their own balloon dogs, following a step by step tutorial on YouTube - it was a lovely activity that they all enjoyed and it was great to see them all releasing their happy hormones.

C3 have enjoyed being outside in the sensory garden, making a ‘know yourself, grow yourself’ collage with natural materials and then had some sensory play with warm water and bubbles. They finished off with hand lotion and lavender scent in the class.

In S4 children chose things they enjoy doing - choosing make up, glasses and hair decorations for our dolls head; having fun taking selfie’s; chilling on the bean bag and visiting Mathilde and Anne-Marie to take the artwork that everyone had done to decorate the hub ready for parents coming in for a coffee morning on Friday.

Some children have chosen their favourite activities to share then had fun in a karaoke session, choosing songs they wanted to sing. They finished off the day with some hot chocolate and biscuits.

E4 have enjoyed fruit printing in relation to our class story Handas Surprise - they love a messy morning! The E4 owls also created their own healthy fruit smoothies and explored feelings with a class feelings song.

C11 had loads of laughs making leaf portraits which we love!

We finished off with a disco, where staff and pupils enjoyed each other’s company and danced away!

It’s been a really fun, happy week in school - we hope you have had some time to think about your mental health and make some me time - have a great weekend!
