Today is ‘purple day’ which is the international day for epilepsy. On this day, people across the globe come together to raise awareness of the condition and make a difference to the lives of people affected by epilepsy.
Many of our children have epilepsy and we work hard to make sure that they get the right support, care and medical assistance to keep them fit and well and to enable them to take part in all of our exciting activities.
Some of our children need extra support and medication when they have a seizure to help them to recover quickly and safely. We have lots of staff - our Education, Health & Care Assistants, as well as our special school nursing team - who are specially trained to support our children and young people with epilepsy.
One in every 100 people in the UK has epilepsy, and there are 40 different types of seizures - so spare a thought for all of the people living and learning with this condition and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who helps them!
